Geography question!?

a shield is a large area with very old rock at or near the surface. the scandinavian shield covers southern norway, most of sweden, and all of finland. north america has a large shield as well. what is its name? where is it? why isn't the area good for farming?

  2. It's the CANADIAN SHIELD.

    It has a deep, common, joined bedrock region in eastern and central Canada and stretches North from the Great Lakes to the Arctic Ocean, covering over half the country. It also includes most of Greenland and extends into the United States as the Adirondack Mountains and the Northern Highland.

    Agriculture in the region is very limited. This is because of the poor soil and rock based structure that makes farming impossible. This region relies on other areas for their food source.
