a) Explain how a prevailing westerly wind may contribute to the problems of acid rain in Poland?

b) Other than acid rain suggest two ways the activities of people affect the natural environment.

caused by emissions due to human activity of sulfur and nitrogen compounds which react in the atmosphere to produce acids like the fatory release sulfur and nitrogen compounds and farmer who burn the remain of their crops after harvesting.

Great Britain is known as “The Dirty Man of Europe”, and its power stations are responsible for the largest emission in Europe, far more than France, Sweden, Norway and Holland combined. Being extremely export-minded, the British export 75% of their pollution, most of which is deposited in other European countries as acid rain.

Poland lies to the East of GB.

Intensive farming: Soil errosion, monoculture, removal of hedgerows to create larger fields.

House building and development: Increased risk of flooding due to impermeable surfaces, concrete/asphalt, replacing soil and vegetation which can absorb rainfall.
