I was wondering when you have a problem for solving x and it looks something like this:: 2x+5 over 3 = x-4 over 2

how do you go about solving this?

  2. The most common method is to cross-multiply.  Take the top left times the bottom right and set it equal to the top right times the bottom left.

    (2x+5)*2=(x-4)*3

    4x+10=3x-12

    x+10=-12

    x=-2
