How is a Cartesian plane different than any other plane? Maybe you can define "Cartesian Plane" and just "Plane" please? :)

We don't use textbooks at my school and Google was of no help to me.

Thanks! ^-^

  1. A cartesian plane is an x,y grid for graphing functions, while a plane is any vertical or horizontal flat surface.

A good example of two planes meeting is where the wall meets the floor. Things like that.

    Hope this helps.

    Have a good day!

  2. The Cartesian Coordinate system is where you would place things such as (0,2) etc, with the x and y axis, 4 quadrants etc.

A normal Plane is a 2D surface that is completely flat and extends in all directions to infinity.

  3. Cartesian means that it is in X, Y, and Z only, like the way you have always thought of space. There is Polar (X, Y, Theta, R) also, which is what you will probably learn next. There are other forms such as Spherical, Cylindrical, and many more.
