George Bailey wary of Saeed Ajmal – Cricket News Update
Though Australian batsmen countered Pakistan’s formidable spin attack quite well to secure a win in the series opener at Sharjah, on Tuesday, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Bailey-c1480 is still wary of Saeed Ajmal’s spin and has urged his teammates to find a more convincing way to handle
him in the remainder of the series.
Bailey, the 29-year-old right-handed batsman, came to the crease after David Hussey’s departure. Australia were struggling at 67 for 4 and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 had removed Hussey brothers by then. But the Tasmanian batsman helped put the mighty Aussies back on track
with a calculated half century.
Though skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 a comfortable four-wicket win, none of the Aussie batsmen could really get on top of promising Ajmal, who returned with impressive figures of 3 for 30 in his spell
of 10 overs.
Bailey said that it would have been great had they managed to score runs against Ajmal, adding that their focus will be Saeed Ajmal come the second ODI in Abu Dhabi.
"We knew he was going to be a key bowler and I think that's one of the real focuses we'll have going in to Abu Dhabi is how we play him, and try to milk him a little bit better and try not to give him his wickets.
Though Australia managed to win the opening one-dayer quite comfortably, courtesy Pakistan’s lower-order capitulation, they also failed to put up some good partnerships, and that is a cause of concern according to Bailey.
"The big thing that we'll take as a team is partnerships, particularly in the top order. If you look at teams that have had success over here the big partnerships and big scores come from the top order. That's a real focus for us," said Bailey who debuted
at the international arena in February this year and has so far played 11 ODIs and four T20 Internationals.
The two outfits will now meet in Abu Dhabi on August 31, before returning to Sharjah to play the third and final one-dayer. The ODI series will be followed by three T20 Internationals.
