George Benjamin tipped to win Medinet Handicap
George Benjamin is tipped to win the Medinet Handicap at Chepstow in England on Monday, June 4, 2012. The winner of the class-5 event will be awarded a cash prize of £2,264.
The going will be good to soft in the 7 furlong 16 yard event, which is scheduled to start at 16:25 GMT. A total of 10 runners will be seen in action and their names are as follows: Arctic Mirage, George Benjamin, Sir Bruno, Fleetwoodsands, Aqua Ardens, Spinning Ridge, Local Singer, Great Charm, Flynn’s Boy, and Regency Art.
Out of the above mentioned runners, Local Singer and Flynn’s Boy might miss out on action today. The conditions at Chepstow have changed slightly due to some overnight rain, thus this has forced the omission of a couple of participants.
However, the conditions will not be a problem for George Benjamin, who is a very good runner and is carrying terrific momentum right now. He has got excellent speed, which will definitely help him make a solid impression in today’s race.
The five-year-old gelding has participated in 22 races until now, winning three of them and finishing runner up on eight times. In addition to that, he has also secured the third spot on four occasions, which shows that he is fully capable of fighting at the front.
Importantly, the Bill Turner’s trainee is in great shape right now, as he was victorious in his most recent outing. Despite not being the favourite back then, he managed to surprise one and all with his skills.
George Benjamin will be partnered by young jockey, Ryan While, who has shown a lot of promise in his career so far. He will be looking forward to a strong show at Chepstow today.
Looking at the performances of the runners, no one seems to be in a position to fight for a victory. However, the bookies believe that Arctic Mirage has the skills to spring up a surprise in the race.
The four-year-old gelding has won just once out of 23 attempts, thus the punters will not be interested in risking money on him. Furthermore, he is not carrying a good momentum right now, which suggests that he will be unable to cause any problems for George Benjamin.
