George Bovell conquers Men’s 50m freestyle title: 2011 Pro Dual Meet
Day one of the 2011 Pro Dual Meet began in thrilling fashion with the versatile swim of George Bovell of West in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on Wednesday, November 16. Bovell earned victory in the Men’s 50m freestyle event.
The final heat between arch rivals including George Bovell, Jason Dunford of East and Alex Coville of West commenced in strong fashion, as Bovell left his opponents behind due to his versatile turns in the pool and knocked the finishing divider in a winning
time of 22.77 seconds to win the Men’s 50m freestyle title.
After the race, Dunford settled at second place in a time of 22.82 seconds. Dunford was the gold medallist in 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly finals at the 2007 All African Games, in Algiers. In addition, he has been the Summer Universiade and Commonwealth
champion at 2009 and 2010 editions, in Belgrade and Delhi, respectively.
Meanwhile, the bronze title was taken over by Alex Coville of West in a time of 22.85 seconds. Additionally, Nick Brunelli of East clinched fourth spot by clicking the finishing barrier in a time of 23.10 seconds. More importantly, Brunelli was the gold
medallist in 4x100m freestyle at the 2004 World Championships, in Indianapolis. In addition, he won gold title in 4x100m medley at the 2003 Pan American Games, in Domingo.
Moreover, Bobby Savulich of East claimed fifth position by hitting the finishing fence in a time of 23.09 seconds, while David Dunford of East earned sixth spot in a time of 23.11 seconds. Furthermore, Bryan Lundquist of West grabbed seventh blot by banging
the finishing divider in a time of 23.52 seconds, whereas, Richard Hortness of West settled at eighth spot in a time of 23.60 seconds, respectively.
In the meantime, Martyn Forde of East earned ninth place honours by thumping the finishing blockade in a blot of 23.72 seconds and Joe Bartoch of West claimed tenth spot in a spot of 23.75 seconds. Additionally, Ian Hulme and Kevin Doak were placed at the
eleventh and twelfth positions in a time of 23.92 seconds and 24.15 seconds, respectively.
