Considering he is a major player in world politics & and looking at China's human rights issues, is it right for him to attend or should he have snubbed them ?

  1. George Bush has no right to lecture anyone on Human Rights.

  2. it shows them how desperate the republicans are.

  3. I think so.  The more we help the Chinese the better it would be for all us.  We don't want another Iraq style invasion resulting in entire China becoming refugees and swamping us.

  4. I doubt China would have cared less if he didn't go. China is roaring ahead and America can't do anything about it.

  5. It truly shows that Bush Jr is a terrorist loving Commie Red who loves giving ream jobs to the enemy.

  6. He`s there as a representation of the West...

He hasn`t snubbed them, therefore he hasn`t given the Chinese a reason to fall out with the US and make an unstable relationship more volatile.

  7. lol @ 'the drunken fool' He stole my answer!

Seriously, Bush is sending out mixed messages to the Chinese Government.

Bringing them up on their human right record one minute and attending the games the next.

  8. good question. considering bush is such a good role model for what is morally acceptable. btw, i am being sarcastic.

  9. I think the real issue is that if he DIDNT turn up then it would cause a massive uproar. If China officially "fell out" with America simply because he was disrespectful by not turning up, then you would all be f*cked.

Forget about human rights and remember that everything says 'Made In China' on it...

  10. Sorry pal. China and US---they both need each other. Bush and Bush Sr. is there for the unveiling of the US embassy.

Separation of those two will create a major catastrophe not just the US; the whole of Europe is in a great depression.

  11. That Bush should say what he said about human rights in China the day after a kangaroo-court (apologies to the Aussie marsupial) in the US convicted a man (and many others) denied his human rights for years in Guantanamo shows what a hypocrite and thick-skinned person (and stupid) he is. It is so rich, coming from that village clown. Many independent lawyers with no axes to grind have condemned the show trial but the US govt has chosen to ignore them.

When you talk about human rights, what about the Hispanics in the US who are persecuted and perish in the Arizona and Texan deserts? The people of Jena in the US who are denied their rights? The poor who cannot even afford medical treatment and education? They have no access to the most basic rights - the right to survive in a land of plenty and waste.

Bush is there for the junket he can squeeze out the the system - free holiday and travel - before he is out of office. He knows he can shoot his mouth and make cheap points without any penalty to his popularity. It of no consequence to the scheme of things because he is really a nobody.

To speak of western-style human rights in an authoritarian country is rather stupid and uneducated. It's like asking why one cannot open up a pub or off-licence in Riyadh and stroll down in bikini down the malls there. They are right to object to such behaviour. The west is trying to force its own agenda down the throats of other countries and culture. In recent times we condemn the church for trying to force their morality and beliefs on the cultures of other societies that have their own way of life and social organisation. Today, there is a fundamentalist movement called 'human rights' which is a secular religion that the evangelists of democracy are trying to spread to other countries. It is ultimately a insidious religion because like the catholicism of the past, it destroys the indigenous societies it touches. The rampant exercise and exploitation of human rights in the west has already seen the breakdown of many higher values, many more important that the right of the individual to have his own ways. We can't even deport criminals who have committed crimes and may go on to commit more. This is just one example. Yet we want to export this secular religion to others. Shame on us!

    Dalli Lama has spoken.

  12. i doubt he realises that beijing is in china.....

  13. He needs to discuss with China. Such occasion is very good for under-table discussion.

For examples, he may get some information on where Laden is; or he can bring back some political detainees who may connect to Laden.

  14. If you would bother to look beyond your hatred of Bush, you might notice that he spoke out for China allowing more freedom for it's people already.

  15. I think he just like to go to see the Olympics and get VIP treatment for free (using tax money) before he leaves his presidential office.

And he likes to receive the spot light of the world.

He won't be the major player of the world in few months.

Whatever he does now won't make much difference to Chinese.

They are looking ahead and have more interest in next president.

Chinese are not stupid so, they'll figure out that going along with international community on the human rights issues is better for them in long run as they increase their involvement in the international activities.

  16. Does he even know he is in China, and its a bit late to start on about

Human Rights issues when your own are so poor. He is a wretched hypocrite, and should go back to US and have a think about Guantanamo Bay and the human rights that have been abused there and in other corners of the world that he has interfered in. This president is a joke, but not funny
