  1. This is a serious question?  Well George Marshall was one of the most important people on the American side in WWII.  He was a general in the United States Army.  Why was he so famous?  Because only a super power, and we were the only super power after that war, could clean up the devastation in Europe.  General Marshall was put in charge of it and it was called the Marshall Plan.  It was responsible for cleaning up the devastation of the war and rebuilding the infastructure.  I have lived in Europe and I have had elderly people come up to me and say that they still remembered all that the Marshall Plan did.  It encompasses everything from the rebuilding of roads, the reestablishment of the communications networks, providing potable water and disposing of the carcasses of the livestock that had been killed during the war.  Europe got back on its feet because of the Marshall Plan.
