George Charlton hopeful of Knockara Beau’s comeback at Cheltenham
George Charlton hopes that his dashing horse, Knockara Beau, will be a part of Argento Chase at Cheltenham track on Saturday, January 28. He is 90 percent sure of Knochkara Beau making a strong comeback.
The veteran horse will run against 12 competitors, Captain Chris, Carruthers, Diamond Harry, Grands Crus, Little Josh, Master Of The Hall, Midnight Chase, The Minack, The Sawyer, Tidal Bay, Any Currency and Time For Rupert, in the Grade 2 race, set
to begin at 2:35.
Though trainer is a slightly disappointed over the horse’s recent failure at Wetherby, but still asserts that he will thrive in what he terms as a ‘hot race’.
George said:
“I'm 90% sure he's going to run, but we'll make a final decision later in the week. He seems in good form, but I was disappointed with his run at Wetherby over Christmas. The top three or four disappointed in that race and I think that might have been
down to the ground, as it was very dead.”
He added:
“I hope he can bounce back and run well this weekend. He loves it round Cheltenham, but it is obviously a very hot race indeed. We'll see how he gets on but he has been coming down the weights a bit and could be well-in for one of the handicaps at
the Festival."
Knockara Beau has excellent track record at Cheltenham. The nine-year-old has finished as a runner-up, three times at the venue.
Owned by W. F. Trueman, the horse started his career on January 27, 2008, winning his very first race against 13 opponents. However, he turned to be a little laggard afterwards.
Foaled in May 2003, the black horse has run 28 races so far, including 3 NHF, 11 Hurdle and 14 Chase. His victory ratio has been somewhat poor with just 8 wins to his credit, and total earnings of £134,888.
Now, Knockara Beau is all set to compete in the Argento Chase, which will be packed with thrill and throb. If the horse makes an impact in this event, he will be able to earn enough for the whole year.
