George Earle to join the Scarlets – Rugby News Update
George Earle, the 25-year-old lock is set to join the Scarlets ahead of the new season. He makes the switch from the Cheetahs and has penned a three-year deal with the club.
Nigel Davies, the head coach of Scarlets has welcomed his move that will bolster his squad. There are a few players that have left the team, while there are rumours that Davies will be joining Gloucester ahead of the new season.
"It's key to have secured a quality second row, who at 25, has enough experience but also plenty to give and hunger to achieve over the next three seasons at Parc y Scarlets," Davies said. "He's an aggressive and focused player with a high work rate and
has the ability to add a real edge to our game."
Davies has completely altered the style of play at the Scarlets, and that is why he is being linked with the vacant position at Gloucester. The President of the club, Phil Bennett is mindful that his head coach could leave at the end of the month. However,
Davies is determined at the moment to keep the team evolving, bringing in new players, while letting others go.
He said, "We've said previously, that we wanted to take time to analyse our options carefully as a coaching group options and take the time to find the right solutions for this squad."
He also added that if they add any new player to their team, he needs to fit into the team culture, and help the team progress, especially if he is coming in from a different league. Earle is expected to arrive in Wales in July and he will not participate
in the Currie Cup, but will finish the season with his Super Rugby side.
One player who will certainly not be with the Scarlets next season is Dominic Day, who played as a lock. He has made the switch to Bath for the next season, and he has penned a three-year contract with the club.
There are many changes happening at the Scarlets, with players coming in and going out but the club should keep hold of Nigel Davies, the man responsible for transforming the team.
