George Foreman Grill?

Question

Had one of these for a few years now and love them but HATE cleaning them! Anyone got any tips? Mine has burnt on onion from my homemade burgers that fell apart!!!

I heard about one that you can take the plates off and put in the dishwasher, that would be ideal but can't find them anywhere. Anyone got one and are they really easier to clean?

what I do is make sure it is hot...then I use a sponge or rag to clean it.  The caked on stuff comes right off.  By the way....you can find the grill with the removable plates at Macy's department store or Bed Bath and Beyond.  Make sure you unplug the unit after it gets hot though....you dont want to electricute yourself.

i unplug it, run it underwater with an abrasive sponge and voila! all done

I always clean mine while it is still warm, just wipe it down with kitchen roll or a damp non stick scourer.

You can buy special George Foreman scourers, shaped to go into all the ridges, but I find normal ones work just as well as long as you do it while it's warm.

I clean mine whilst still hot. You have to use a thick cloth and take great care. Make sure the cloth is soaked with water before cleaning...

had this same problem.  i saw this tip in a newspaper.  when done cooking, wet 3 papaer towels, and squeeze water out.  put them on the cooking plates of the grill.  UNPLUG THE GRILL.  the heat from the grill will create steam from the wet paper towels.  it works.  easy to wipe up whats left.  just remember to unplug that thing or you will be calling the fire dept.  i now have one with removeable plates.  with the new ones you can wipe them off much easier, and cleaning them in the sink is simple.  big improvement.

Works best for me to clean while its still warm also once in awhile rub bit of lemon on it I find things don't stick as easily either Good Luck & Cheers..Enjoyed England this year too
