George Groves believes David Haye is more than spectacular – Boxing news
The reigning British and Commonwealth super middleweight champion, George Groves reckons the World Boxing Association’s World Heavyweight Champion David Haye is more than spectacular ahead of his fight with Wladimir Klitschko on July 2, 2011.
David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye will be stepping in the ring against Dr. Steelhammer, Wladimir Klitschko, in a unification bout for the heavyweight titles at the Hamburg Arena in Germany next month. This fight, which is the biggest of Haye’s career, is also being
considered as one of the biggest in the British boxing history.
The Saint, George Groves, who is currently managed and trained by Haye, however believes Haye is going to bulldoze the 6 ft 6.5” Ukrainian giant Klitschko in front of his home crowd.
Groves told the media Haye is looking pretty spectacular and is well on the way. He added the Londoner is eager to get into the ring in front of a crowd of over 50,000 people.
“He's been more than spectacular,” he said. “But it proves he's well on his way, he's in the last couple of weeks and he's really stepping on the gas. He cannot wait to get in there.”
The 23-year-old, Groves, thinks Haye is a much mature boxer than what he was in 2009. He said Haye, who originally agreed to this bout two years back, has improved a lot, as now he has fought many heavyweights and has a good sparring partner.
Groves, who has won all of his 13 fights including 10 by the way of a knockout, also remarked Haye is one of the best heavyweight boxers in the world.
“It's a step up, no doubt about it. When this fight was first made two years ago David was new to the heavyweight scene. But now he's fought heavyweights, trained as a heavyweight, he's sparring with heavyweights and lived as a heavyweight. I feel he's in
a lot stronger position now than he was and that he's the best in the world in the heavyweight division,” he said.
