George Groves says James DeGale is a child – Boxing News
Super Middleweight Champion, George Groves, says James DeGale is a child in a man’s game ahead of their awaited showdown, to be held at the London’s O2 Arena on Saturday, May 21.
The scintillating battle between both pugilists will be witnessed by many fans of the sport with great interest.
DeGale’s trainer, Jim McDonnell, passed on a statement a few days back saying that his fighter can end Groves’ career. He said Groves is only going into the ring to take a pay-day but this will be his last pay-day.
DeGale on the same note, also passed many other statements. In one of his recent interviews, he said even David ‘the Hayemaker’ Haye cannot save Groves from being beaten.
Groves passed one of the most flattering statements in which he has branded the British and Commonwealth Super-Middleweight Champion, James DeGale, a child.
Groves, while speaking to the media said, “He’s obviously not a man mentally, and I might go out and show he can’t deal with a man physically either, “. “He’s child in a man’s game.”
Groves admitted his defence is a bit week, but on the same note added that there are some positive points in his game too.
The 23-year-old, Groves, said, “I need to tighten up, I know my defence isn’t perfect, but people need to concentrate not so much on the negatives and look at the positives as well.”
He also commented about his fight against Kenny Anderson, which was held in November, where he was floored and was unable to win the Commonwealth crown. The Londoner said he was trying a lot of new things but they did not work out for him, as he could not
practise them in a proper way.
However, he believes he has learnt a lot from his mistakes. The Saint, Groves remarked, “But I’ve learned from that and improved on that. I haven’t just turned professional and tried to build on my main strengths as an amateur and neglected my weaknesses.”
All is left to see whether George Groves can really pull-off a shocking victory over the favourite, James DeGale, in what is sure to be a scintillating bout.
