George Groves says no one wanted to be roommates with James DeGale – Boxing News

Commonwealth Super-Middleweight Champion, George Groves, has claimed that no one ever wanted to be roommates with James DeGale, even when he was a youngster.
Groves, who has spent a lot of time with DeGale at the Dale Youth boxing club, told the media that DeGale was very arrogant and other memebrs of the team tried not to get stuck in a room with him. “We
never had much to do with each other at first,” Groves told a local newspaper . “He was older and just saw me as a kid around the place. What I really remember about him was the stuff that would happen when we went on trips as a club.”
Groves also commented on the time he spent with DeGale in 2002 as a team-mate. While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “In 2002 I think, we were both part of a team who went to fight in Las Vegas against
their best amateurs. DeGale has not changed — he was just as flash and arrogant then as he is now. I wouldn’t say I hated him but he was pretty irritating.”
He also revealed that he has always made sure he never shared a room with DeGale. He said he always used to team-up with a mate in advance to avoid the risk of being with DeGale. Groves also reckons DeGale
is a weird guy. He remarked that DeGale stopped coming to the gym on adult nights and started training with the kids.
There have been a lot of statements which have been passed by both pugilists on the build-up to there bout. However, the most flattering statement came up a few days back, when the Chunky, DeGale, vowed
he is going to knock out Groves in the first four rounds.
The scintillating battle between both rivals, George Groves and James DeGale, for the British and Commonwealth Super-Middleweight titles is going be held this Saturday May 21 at O2 Arena in London and
this event will also be covered live. This clash is also being considered as one of the biggest in British history.
