George Groves weekend fight off
Undefeated Commonwealth champ George Groves will have to wait to show off his talents.
A super middleweight bout scheduled for Saturday night at York Hall in London has been cancelled, following a failed medical test by his challenger.
James Obede Toney (not to be confused with heavyweight fighter James Toney) was reported to have a cataract problem, affecting his eye sight and making him ineligible for competition.  Hayemaker Promotions,
who promote Groves, were thus forced to cancel the show when they couldn't come up with a replacement opponent for the deadline.
Competitor Patrick Mendy was asked to fill in, but respectfully declined with only 48-hours until fight time.
An upset Groves told
Sky Sports: “I'm gutted. This was going to be a great show, this wasn't a deadpan night, there were some good fights on the undercard and I was really looking forward to it. We had put a lot of mileage into this, a lot of hard work and effort. I've been
training hard for 10 weeks and this night had been a long time coming. It was sold out and was going to be fantastic. We looked around, tried to get someone in, but it wasn't to be," he said.
According to Hayemaker Promotions Groves will now appear on the 13 November card in Manchester featuring WBA heavyweight star David Haye and Audley Harrison in a main event.
Haye will be the favourite in the bout, and has taken criticism for fighting Harrison as opposed to higher rated opponents in his division.
In contradistinction, untested youngster Derek Chisora finds himself in a December 11 title bout with heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko.
Chisora, represented by Frank Warren, could make history books if he manages to topple “Dr. Steelhammer.”
Klitschko is coming off a 10th round TKO of Samuel Peter that resembled more of an unfair sparring match.  Klitschko was able to land shots at will, and outclassed his fatigued opponent.
