After that he made his name as a manager he moved to the Midland league and became the manager of Peterborough United in 1954. He took his team to numerous FA Cup runs, and this included the fourth round in 1956-57.
He won three successive Midland league titles from 1956-58 and his side finished in third place in the 1958-59 season.
Then in the next three seasons the team spent most of the time in the middle of the table and in spite of signing players like Tommy Docherty and George Eastham, Swindin still failed to bring in any trophies to his name.
His neighbours, who were Tottenham Hotspurs, won a double in the 1961 season. After that he resigned from managing this team in 1962 and moved to Norwich City for five months.
After that he made a move to Cardiff City from 1962-64 and with them he signed John Charles from Roma but even though he had a great start the manager was forced to resign as his team got relegated to the second division.
Then Swindin moved to manage Corby Town and Kettering Town and after that he left managing for good.
After retiring from professional football the star opened up a garage in Corby, and then immigrated to Spain where he spent several years and then moved back to England.
In the last years of his life he suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and sadly died in October 2005 in Kettering at ninety years old.
