George Hincapie wins stage 2 as Van Garderen leads at US Professional Road Championship
Last win for the BMC rider George Hincapie was back in 2009 at the US professional road championship as he relived his winning memories by winning the stage 2 of USA Pro Cycling Challenge during a 209.8 kilometre race at Aspen. He rode brilliantly and put
in an amazing effort.
The 38-year-old commented on winning the stage as he briefed that he entered the race with the best of his form and he did not eat much before the race which helped him in the end. He further added about the HTC-Highroad cyclist Tejay Van Garderen that,
“I knew Tejay is going to be one of the fastest guys, Tejay got a gap in some of the corners and I had to sprint around Tom Danielson to catch up to Tejay but once I Caught him I knew that it was over and that I was going to win the stage.”
Van finished second winning himself a yellow jersey from Leipheimer as the 23 leads the general classifications category after stage 2 as he mentioned that he was aware of the fact that Levi is not very comfortable at descends.
George Hincapie finished the stage in a total time of 5:26:10 with Tejay at second and Thomas Danielson at third position. Eduard Alexander and Janier ALexis Acevedo Colle finished the stage 2 of USA Pro Cycling challenge at fourth and fifth positions respectively.
General classifications after stage 2 is dominated by the US cyclists as the top five cyclists are Tejay Van Garderen, George Hincapie, Thomas Danielson, Levi Leipheimer and Christian Vande Velde all from USA.
Tejay is the already holding the leader’s jersey and is also leading the young rider’s classification with Eduard Alexander 1minute 33 seconds behind at second and Tobias Ludvigsson at third position after the stage 2 young rider’s classification.
Team BMC is leading the stage 2 Team’s classifications with a total time of 30:14:49 with Team Garmin Cervelo at second and Gobernacion de Antioquia at third position at the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, 2001.
