George Sherrill all set to join Seattle Mariners – MLB News
Left-handed relief pitcher, George Sherrill is all set to join Seattle Mariners for the next Major League Baseball season after spending one season with the Atlanta Braves.
Though this news is not confirmed yet, but some MLB’s inside sources have reported that the Seattle Mariners’ management has agreed to give Sherrill a one year contract worth $1.1 million after a brief physical this weekend while official announcement will
be made later.
A free agent in the 2011 market and former Seattle draftee, George Sherrill has also played for the Mariners in the past for three years after showing huge progress in his University days with his brilliant pitching.
After attending Austin Peay State University, Sherrill made his debut with the Seattle Mariners in 2004 and stayed there until traded to the Baltimore Orioles in 2008 and later to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2009. Before becoming a free agent in 2011, he
was traded to the Atlanta Braves in 2010.
His time with the Dodgers was proved disastrous for his career as he could not play well and down the stretch in the regular season, he was truly hammered by many MLB hitters. Later with the Braves, he earned back his pride and made a comeback with style
giving away 3.00 ERA along with 38 strikeouts and 1.25 WHIP.
Nevertheless, his seven years of professional baseball career has earned him great acknowledgement from many experts as he has achieved an earned-runs-average of 3.68 along with 56 saves, 320 strikeouts and 1.32 WHIP.
Many Mariners fans are delighted to hear about the arrival of Sherrill as his past performances are a clear feature of his huge pitching talent. The Mariners, who are preparing very seriously for the next MLB season, recognise Sherrill’s game that has improved
a lot from the very first season he played as a Mariner.
Earlier in the month, some other MLB teams also showed their interest to sign Sherrill. Despite being offered by the New York Yankees along with the Texas Rangers, Sherrill and his agent declined all proposals and only talked to the Mariners management.
