Georges St-Pierre believes fans can wait for fight against Johny Hendricks – UFC News
UFC welterweight titlist Georges St-Pierre believes fans can wait for his fight against number one contender Johny Hendricks. St-Pierre is currently scheduled to face archrival Nick Diaz next year, in order to settle his ‘personal business’ with the contender.
However, it seems like Hendricks does not see the way GSP sees it. According to Hendricks, GSP ducked him to fight Diaz. Since Hendricks was in line to fight GSP, he believes the champion overlooked him and made a personal decision. GSP has promised Hendricks
a title shot soon but right now he wants to deal with Diaz first.
“He wants to create animosity to make a story, for me to accept the fight,” said GSP to The Canadian Press. “But I believe the fight with Diaz is more interesting to the public and is the fight people want to see.
“People want the big fight and the bigger fight is Diaz right now.”
In his last interview, GSP came up saying that everyone wants a shot at him but he cannot split himself in halves and make their wishes come true.
“He fought Josh Koscheck. I watched that fight and I would give that fight to Koscheck,” GSP added.
“I just hope he doesn’t do anything stupid to cancel the fight [this time].
“Because I would be very disappointed. I’m giving him the chance now. It’s a big-money fight.
“I believe he’s a smart guy. He just acts crazy but I believe he’s a smart guy and it will be a good fight.”
GSP recently made his comeback by defeating the then interim champion Carlos Condit via decision. Even though he is considered among the best MMA fighters today, GSP is surely not among the best punchers. He has a low knockout ratio, which makes him vulnerable
to Johny Hendricks’ attacks, since the latter is a knockout specialist.
For now, GSP wants to end his rivalry with Nick Diaz once and for all. He believes in order to move forward with his career, he needs to deal with Hendricks first. The welterweight titlist is hopeful that he will pass Diaz and will soon face Hendricks.
