Georges St-Pierre not interested in seeing Ronda Rousey fighter for UFC – UFC News
While the world cheers for unbeaten Strikeforce Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey for signing up with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is least bothered about the situation. In his recent interview, GSP revealed
it is tough for him to watch women fighting.
GSP has wished well to Rousey and other female fighters who are looking forward to fight under UFC’s banner, especially after president of the UFC Dana White officially announced WMMA would come to the UFC.
“For the woman fight, I say it's good for her, and I mean for the girls that fight, but me personally I have a hard time watching the girls fight,” said GSP during an interview with MMAmania.com.
GSP is currently scheduled to face interim welterweight titlist Carlos Condit tomorrow at UFC 154 in Montreal. The French-Canadian fighter is making his comeback after 19 months of temporary retirement due to a severe knee injury. There is a lot of hype
regarding GSP’s return and his possible future opponents, but ‘The Rush’ is paying no heed to it. As he said in interview previously, he is merely focused on beating Condit before thinking of fighting the giants in the industry such as Anderson Silva and others.
“In my heart I have, you know, it's the way I grew up maybe, the mentality is different, I'm old school. I have a hard time watching girls fighting; it's hard for me. I never really watched a woman fight, but I know they are pretty good,” he added.
“It's good for the women who want to make a career ... But for me, it's hard to watch the girls fighting.”
For now, GSP is ready to prove his worth in the ring after almost two years of being away from the cage. He is training at the TriStar gym with partner Dan Hardy, who is one of the best mixed martial arts specialists in the UFC right now. In the arena, middleweight
champion Anderson Silva will also be among the fans. According to reports, Silva will challenge GSP in the ring, if ‘The Rush’ is able to defeat Condit.
