Georges St-Pierre not sure about fighting Anderson Silva – UFC News
Following his impressive comeback win over Carlos Condit, Georges St-Pierre is flying high but he knows where to put a period. While everyone is expecting ‘The Rush’ to go for the super-fight against Silva, GSP has expressed his opinion, saying he does not
see a point to go for it.
Unfortunately, fans and Dana White, President of the UFC who has been most eager to organize the fight, have to live with the fact that GSP is not so excited about it. While everyone though it could be the match of the millennium for UFC, GSP believes it
will land him no more even if he wins.
“This fight is the cherry on the sundae. (Silva) wants to fight me so he can then retire. I would like to fight him too, but after I fight him and win the fight, what happens next?” said GSP to MMA Fighting.
“These days, yeah, there's a lot of money to be made, but I don't fight for the money. My motivation is to be the best. Like we said, to be the Wayne Gretzky of my sport. So if I fight him, what happens next?” he added.
To a certain extent, GSP has a point. Silva is at the verge of retirement. He wants to leave the world of MMA by cementing his legacy. He wants to be known as the undefeated fighter who has beaten the best in the business. Silva has done it all except for
GSP. Therefore, he wants to face ‘The Rush’ to make sure there are no doubts about his dominance. But, what will GSP get out of it? He has a long career ahead of him and if he loses to Silva, he will be history.
He added that he wants to fight Silva but it might not be in the best interest for him. Georges St-Pierre made his comeback after almost 18 months of temporary retirement. He came back with a boom and has now become the leader in his division once again.
For now, GSP has not given a confirm answer regarding the super-fight against Silva.
