Georges St-Pierre paying no heed to fight against Anderson Silva for now – UFC News
While Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White is hopeful of an encounter between middleweight champion Anderson Silva and welterweight titlist Georges St-Pierre, the latter is not sure about it. Upon hearing the news of Anderson Silva being present
in the arena while GSP takes on Carlos Condit at UFC 154, the ‘Rush’ only had to say he is focusing on Condit for the moment and will decide about Silva later.
“There's no doubt that Anderson Silva showing up to cheer Georges St-Pierre on ... he wants him to win this fight, and he wants to fight him after,” said White, who is trying his level best to pull off UFC’s first ever super-fight between the ‘Rush’ and
the ‘Spider’.
Georges St-Pierre currently stands with 22 wins and 2 losses in MMA and 16 wins and 2 losses in the UFC. His opponent Carlos Condit stands with 28 wins and 5 losses in MMA and 5 wins and 1 loss in UFC. Silva, on the other hand, is an unbeaten fighter who
believes GSP is the only fighter who can give him a tough fight in the cage.
“I don't care about Anderson Silva. He can do whatever he wants. He can go to Florida or stay in Brazil if he wants. I'm focused on Carlos Condit right now. That's all that matters to me,” said GSP when asked about his concerns regarding a fight against Silva.
“We're probably pissing Condit off every time [the superfight] is asked (about),” GSP added.
GSP will be making his UFC return after almost eighteen months. He has already promised fans that he would be more of a knockout fighter now than being a fighter who wins via decision, an element that defines his entire career.
Carlos Condit is the interim welterweight champion and a win over GSP would make him the worthy one for the title. Since both fighters belonged to the same training facility once, the fight is going to be an epic battle between a champion who has come back
to get what belongs to him and a champion who needs to prove his mettle to acquire the respect of a champion.
