UFC welterweight titlist Georges St-Pierre understands Johny Hendricks’ position. GSP reveals he is not angry with Hendricks for trash-talking against him. GSP believes Hendricks truly is the number one contender for the title right now. However, the ‘Rush’
believes he first needs to settle his personal business with Nick Diaz and move on with his career.
“He wants to create animosity to make a story, for me to accept the fight,” said GSP while talking about Hendricks with The Canadian Press. “But I believe the fight with Diaz is more interesting to the public and is the fight people want to see.”
Hendricks, who stands with 14 wins and 1 loss in his career, is considered a knockout specialist in the UFC. He has recently defeated all his opponents with knockouts, and has become the number one opponent for the title.
Georges St-Pierre stands with 23 wins and 2 losses. He recently made his comeback after almost 18 months of hibernation. GSP is currently among the best fighters in the industry, and is rated the second best by President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship
Dana White.
“He fought Josh Koscheck. I watched that fight and I would give that fight to Koscheck,” said GSP for Hendricks. Hendricks won against Koscheck via split decision.
“Because if I were to fight Hendricks now, Diaz would complain and people would complain. But the big fight right now is Nick Diaz,” GSP added.
In other words, The Rush believes anyone who does not get the chance whines about it. Right now, GSP wants to take care of Diaz, hoping to defeat him and then move on with his career. On the other hand, Johny Hendricks is waiting to go head to head against
GSP, as he believes it is his time to reign the welterweight division.
Johny Hendricks undoubtedly stands among the best in the business, especially with his recent dominating wins. Many believe he is the only fighter right now who can end GSP’s reign. However, Hendricks is now at the stage where Dana White cannot refuse him
a match against GSP. After Diaz, it will be Hendricks GSP will have to fight.
