Georges St-Pierre vs. Carlos Condit nothing similar to Rashad Evans vs. Jon Jones – UFC News
Georges St-Pierre, welterweight titlist, will be taking on interim champion Carlos Condit at UFC 154 on November 17 at the Ball Centre in Montreal. Both fighters shared the same gym at one point in time, and used to train together but no more. The entire
scenario is much like the rivalry story of Jon Jones and Rashad Evans, who used to be friends but turned enemies soon. However, GSP has assured that his encounter with Condit is nothing personal.
Georges St-Pierre, who currently stands with 22 wins and 2 losses in MMA and 16 wins and 2 losses in the UFC, will make his comeback after eighteen to face the current welterweight titlist Carlos Condit, who stands with 28 wins and 5 losses in MMA and 5
wins and 1 loss in UFC.
“Just for this fight, we changed the protocol, so no problem,” said Georges St-Pierre when asked about the entire scenario.
Condit switched his trainer to avoid any complications in the team. Condit and GSP were in the same MMA team but no more. Now, Condit is training under Chris Luttrell and Winkeljohn but says he is in constant touch with his former trainer Greg Jackson.
“It hasn't been a huge change. I still interact with Greg. He's still at the gym, so it's not like we're not on speaking terms or anything like that. But the guys that I'm training with right now, Chris and Mike, I've been training with them for a long time,
and I really feel like I'm in good hands for the preparation,” said Condit.
On the other hand, St-Pierre usually trains at Montreal gym Tristar. He added that he will return to Jackson’s camp soon without any hard feelings.
“Of course I will. I always train in Montreal, but most of the time, Greg was coming to Montreal,” said GSP.
Since it will be GSP’s comeback fight, most fans are eager to see what ‘Silver Lining’ has to offer after a gap of almost one and a half year. If GSP wins, he will move on to face middleweight champion Anderson Silva in probably UFC’s first every super-fight.
