Georges St-Pierre will return to action in nine months after successful knee surgery – UFC News
The current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight Champion, Georges St-Pierre, faced a knee injury sometime back during a fight. On December 13, 2011, the Canadian mixed martial art (MMA) fighter underwent a successful
knee surgery where the doctors are hopeful for a speedy recovery.
His right knee was operated upon in California by Dr. Neal ElAttrache. Soon after St-Pierre was conscious again, he wrote on his social media website that, “Good news! The surgery (ACL patellar tendon autograft reconstruction)
was a total success!”
Although the surgery has been successfully performed the doctors and surgeons have advised him rest. They have given their judgement that St-Pierre should not enter the fighting ring for a long time. According to doctors, St-Pierre
will be making his return in UFC in the next six or nine months.
St-Pierre has been on a winning run in the UFC. He has won nine straight bouts which also included his famous bout against Matt Serra at UFC 83 in April 2008 when he won the undisputed UFC Welterweight Championship. His title run
had already begun at UFC 79 when he had won the Interim UFC Welterweight Championship by beating Matt Hughes in December 2007.
He has successfully defended his title six times and has been the champion from April 2008. He may be out for almost nine months but the welterweight title he holds has now become an intern title. On February 4, 2011, at UFC 143,
this interim UFC welterweight title will be hanging on the line when American MMA fighters Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz will face each other to decide the winner of the interim title.
Many MMA and UFC fans and critics have the view that St-Pierre has done what one MMA fighter needs to do. He has won twenty-two bouts in his MMA career win only two losses. In the UFC, he has been exceptional. He took part in eighteen
bouts in the UFC and lost only two. His passion for the combat sport has given him the tendency to recover from injuries in the past and this time, after his successful surgery, it is safe to say that he will return back to in-ring action the moment he gets
back on his feet.
