Question:

Georgia Driving Test - do I take it on the road or a parking lot?

I am British living in Georgia and have just got my Green Card, so I need to take my driving test. I have been driving for 20 years, so I think I will be fine (if I practice my parallel parking a bit). My question is that I have heard you take tests here in parking lots and not on the road in traffic. Is that correct or does it vary?

  1. Sometimes you take in a field chasing cows, it all depends on what you dmv has set up

  2. Those new to the State may make an appointment to exchange an out-of-state driver's license for a Georgia license at several Metro Atlanta locations.

Appointments are encouraged but not required. You may make an appointment by calling the Contact Center Reservation line, 678 413-8400.

Appointments are offered at Decatur-South DeKalb Mall, North Cobb - Canton Rd in Marietta, Lithonia, Lawrenceville, and Locust Grove.
