Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets’ Joshua Nesbitt could be back for one more game
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets quarterback Joshua Nesbitt could be back for one more game after undergoing surgery on his arm.
Nesbitt broke his right forearm in the second quarter of his squad’s loss to the Virginia Tech Hokies on 4 November. However, the youngster underwent surgery on Monday 8 November and could be fully recovered in time for a bowl game appearance.
In order for Nesbitt to participate in one more game this season, the Yellow Jackets will have to become bowl eligible. Georgia currently has a record of 5-4, which places them one win away from being eligible for a bowl game. The squad has three games,
two of which are against Atlantic Conference opponents. The easiest game remaining on the Yellow Jackets' schedule is a game at home against the Duke Blue Devils, who have already been eliminated from bowl contention and have a record of 3-6.
Nesbitt was considered a Heisman Trophy hopeful at the start of the season and has had a productive season with the Yellow Jackets. However, Georgia Tech’s record has all but eliminated him from trophy contention.
Georgia Tech was considered an ACC championship candidate at the start of the year, after taking the title a year earlier. However, the squad got off to a poor start, going .500 through their first four games. The club picked it up, winning three straight
in the middle of their schedule. However, in the last two weeks they have not been able to collect a win and now have very little chance of playing for the title.
The Yellow Jackets will fill the hole at quarterback with back-up Tevin Washington, who will make his first career start against the Hurricanes in week 11.
So far this season, Nesbitt has tossed for 674 yards and seven touchdowns, while going for over 100 yards on the ground four times.
