  1. If you read several different news and economy articles you would find that through the Georgian terr. some oil pipes go to Europe. As you know Russia supplies Europe with natural gas and oil. Basically, Russia would prefer to hold total control/monopoly on supply of oil to Europe, in this case if they overthrow goverment of Georgia and place their pro-Russian president and goverment in Tbilisi they can achive their goal. Kremlin definitely would not like to have NATO countries on their borders, for this purpose they  would do anything to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO...i mean ANYTHING! It's been confirmed by Ukrainian that over 174,000 ukrainians in Crimea were issued Russian passports , which is illegal and agaisnt the Constituion of Ukraine. Kremlin would play the same scenario in Crimea like they did in South Osethia: they would roll tanks and military to Crimea, Ukraine to "defend  their Russian passport holders" and try to annex this territory of Ukraine to Russia. Crimea is very important for it's Black Sea access and control.

  2. I think Russia is just letting people know they still dominate the region.

  3. It's about oil, and control of the Caspian Sea. Those poor people being hurt and killed are just pawns. The U.S. and Israel are heavily invested in Georgia because it is strategically located next to the third-largest oil supply in the world.
