  1. You are absolutely correct.

Thanks to Amendment 23 to the Georgia Constitution, the State University system of Georgia provides special educational assistance to any state resident who is 62 years of age or older.

To qualify, you must be able to demonstrate residency and provide a birth certificate, and you must meet "all System and institution undergraduate or graduate admission requirements". Under some circumstances, special exceptions will be allowed.

Residents who qualify will be permitted to enroll as a regular or auditing  (non-degree seeking) student on a "space available" basis, without paying any tuition fees. Such students will, however, be required to pay supplies, laboratory or shop fees.

This is a wonderful opportunity to pursue a degree, to complete an abandoned degree, or just to "stay sharp" and engaged. The only likely frustration that you will experience is that high-demand classes would probably rarely have "space available", except during off-peak times like early mornings, late nights, and possibly summer terms.

I've attached a list of all of the colleges in the Georgia University system. I hope this information helped. For more info, contact the admissions office at your school of choice.

    Best of luck!
