  1. what? i thought russia was going to war with part of the u.s. in the state of georgia, around atlanta?

  2. Lol! Shade's answer was nominally correct.

But he didn't know, that the:

    1. "separatists" - are all people of South Ossetia.

    2. They was totally bombed (even civillians) with GEORGIAN air forces, and Georgian tanks are crushing ossetian land and flesh whithout any care about THEIR OWN CITIZENS!

  3. The republic of Georgia used to be a part of the Soviet Union. To put it simply it used to be a part of a greater Russia. When the Soviet Union collapsed George broke away and became independent.Three autonomous regions including South Ossetia decided they still wanted to be a part of  Russia.A fight broke out between Georgia and those areas and Russia came in with the consent of the international community to impose peace. It has been about 16 years now.On Thursday the Republic of Georgia decided to launch a surprise attack to retake South Ossetia. After killing 1600 civilians and 5 Russian peace keepers Russia reacted sending in 1000's of troops and hundreds of armored vehicles to push out the Georgians

  4. boo boo t**d?

  5. Russia has been sending fighters to breakaway areas in Georgia, like South Ossetia, for years and supplying them with weapons to use against Georgia and inflaming sentiment against Georgia, trying to build little "Palestinians".

Georgia is very pro-West.  Russia doesn't like that in the region.  There is also a strategic pipeline at stake.  Russia is also unhappy about Kosovo and just last month threatened military action over the US missile shields in Czech and the US trying to make Georgia a member of NATO.

Georgia was fighting the separatists in South Ossetia and Russia used that opportunity to put out propaganda saying Georgia was killing the Russians civilians in that area and to attack Georgia.  You'll see their propaganda all over the Internet trying to demonize Saakashvili, the Georgian president, as committing genocide and as the next Stalin (because Stalin is from Georgia).  They've had this planned.  Their military was ready.  I also think they wanted to attack before possibly McCain was in office.  McCain has an advisor that is very informed about and supportive of Georgia.  That's why McCain's response was so much more forceful.

  6. The Georgian military entered South Ossetia, allegedly to take care of some separatists who want South Ossetia to be absorbed by Russia, and who have apparently started making a few raids into the border of Georgia. These separatists are allies of Russia, and so the Russian military came in and started shooting/bombing the place up, and seems to have the intention of absorbing South Ossetia.

I believe both sides are claiming that they were defending themselves and the other was the aggressor. Both countries have never really gotten along well, things have been tense, and this has been the worse outbreak of violence since around 1992.

Look 'South Ossetia war' up in Wikipedia for more info.

EDIT: Bombed by Georgian airforce, Dr. Troy? You do realise they have a tiny airforce, like, nine planes according to some statistics I read? Not to mention the Russians are, unsurprisingly, controlling the air through overwhelming numbers, so I find it highly unlikely it was the Georgians. But there's a lot of propaganda flying about from the looks of it, so I'm just trying to put the facts out there.

  7. in 2 words

South Ossetia is a conflict region of Georgia, that bourders Russia

Russia want suppors separatism in Georgia and Backs South ossetia.

South Ossetia wants to be a part of Russia and forgets that Ossetians are on Geoerigas territory

South Ossetian began firing Georgian Villages and towns, thus Georgia defended their villages and moved some troops in the neiborhood areas

it escalated the conflictand now russia and Georgia are in a war

Georgia stopped firing and sat at the table of negotiations, while russia is still bombin Georgia , not only the conflict zones, but also capital - Tbilisi and other towns that are miles away from the conflict zone

seems like Russia wants to annex Georgia and used this conflict to acomplish their plan

  8. Georgia basically wanted to take back an independent state of S.Ossetia so they stormed in there killed the Russian peace keepers and tried to do a little ethnic cleansing.S.Ossertia is supported by Russia so they didn't take that lightly and pushed the Georgian forces out of S.Ossertia.Now Georgia wants to sign a "peace" treaty but Russia will not go for it because it cannot let Georgian acts of genocide go unavenged. West sides with Georgia and makes Russia out to be the bad guy because of personal political interests in Georgia.

  9. 3 days ago Georgia (the country) attacked South Ossettia (the region of Georgia who declared an independence, the same as Kosovo).

Georgia bombed Tskhinvali (the capital of South Ossetia), and killed more than 2000 people. Russian peacemakers (they are there according to UN declaration) were attacked as well and were forced to respond. So it goes for 4th day...
