Gerald Green scores 23 to lead the New Jersey Nets past the Philadelphia 76ers: NBA Recap Part 2
After ending the first quarter poorly, the Philadelphia 76ers went on a charge in the second quarter and by the time there were about 4 minutes left to the half, they were able to make the scores all square at 36-each.
For the next two minutes, Philadelphia kept their scoring charge going. From the point when the scores were level to the 1:20 mark in the second period they went on an 8-0 run to take the lead 44-36. However, the Nets managed to
score 5 quick points in the final minute to make the score 44-41 at the halfway stage.
In the second half things started to get a little heated up as both teams were looking to make their presence felt. The teams combined for a total of 3 fouls in the first 2 minutes of the third. Nets went to the line twice and
made 3 out of 4 free throws while the Sixers went to the line once and successfully made both free throws.
On the next two possessions for the Nets, 4 points were scored to make the scores 48 each. The scores remained close and were all tied 5 times till the 2:46 mark in the third period. Philadelphia closed the quarter on an 8-3 run
and held a minor 3 point advantage going into the fourth.
With a tad above 2 minutes gone in the final quarter; the scores were tied again at 68-each. Both teams were able to convert possessions into baskets for most part of the quarter as no side looked to give up. The scores were all
tied up at the 3:16 mark with both sides having 85 points. However, in the next few minutes Nets scored 5 unanswered points to take a 90-85lead.
With the clock winding down, Philadelphia were only able to score 4 points while the Nets added 5 more to their tally. Brooks scored the final 5 points for the Nets which helped them hold on to win this one. He played the entire
game with absolute energy, was very happy with the performance he had put in.
"I played well and made some shots. Scoring is a bonus. I've just got to play with more energy. Scoring will come."
