Gerald Majola comes under fire after Nyoka’s reinstatement
Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757’s (CSA) Chief Executive, Gerald Majola, is likely to go through tough times after the reinstatement of the dismissed president of the board, Mtutuzeli Nyoka.
Nyoka, who has recently regained his post after winning a court case, is all set to launch a fresh inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the IPL funds that have been at Majola’s disposal.
Though Nyoka claims that he has had a patch-up with Majola, he is not ready to backtrack from his stance and wants the corruption to be unveiled before the public and media.
The second edition of the Indian Premier League was hosted by South Africa due to security concerns in India. The Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 (BCCI) paid huge remunerations and bonuses to CSA, which organized and hosted the event.
In February this year, Nyoka claimed that the funds, worth Rand 86 million had been embezzled. He blamed Majola for this irregularity.
In turn, Majola issued Nyoka’s dismissal in the latter’s absence. Nyoka challenged the move in court and had the dismissal reversed.
After the court’s decision, the 11 provincial cricket union presidents, voted to restore Nyoka on his previous position. Majola also expressed confidence in the president.
The South African Sports Confederation and Olympics Committee (Sascoc) has offered the CSA to undertake an independent inquiry into the financial affairs of the board.
Nyoka is committed to take any steps in this regard as soon as possible after having promised to expose the CSA corruption.
This internal rift of CSA is likely to affect the Proteas who are still without a captain and a coach.
Earlier, skipper Graeme http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Smith-c90598, resigned from ODI captaincy after the team’s lackluster World Cup campaign.
