Gerald Sibayan and Rabie Jason Obaob make it to the top-8 of Philippine Badminton Ranking System

Philippine’s Gerald Sibayan and Rabie Jason Obaob defeated their opponents in the third round of U19 boys singles and booked their spot in the top-8 of the Philippine Badminton Ranking System 2011, in Philippines on 30 March. Gerald took just 20 minutes
to brush aside Kyla Patrick Gosiaco in a one-sided battle, whereas Rabie beat Clarence Filart in straight sets by consuming just 25 minutes in the court. Both winners will put up a good show in the quarter-final showdown by playing against each other on 1
April.
Gerald came in the court with an aggressive approach and played with his maximum speed. His control over the rallies was remarkable and his stroke selection and execution was perfect, as it spared no chance for the opponent to even put up a strong resistance.
Kyla Patrick had no answer to the perfectly landed smashes of Gerald who was targeting the side lines of the court.
Gerald continued his winning run in the following set and quickly established a good lead of 11-5 in the first half of the set. After getting back into the court, He stretched his lead without any trouble and won the second game with a big margin of 21-10,
by consuming 10 minutes in the court. The ending score of the match was 21-8 and 21-10.
Rabie proved his worth in another singles match by playing a better game against Filart. The first set was a close fight, as both shuttlers played aggressive and controlled game until the one-minute break, where Rabie was leading the set by an 11-8 margin.
After the interval, he remained on track by maintaining the lead and clinched the opening set by spending 12 minutes with a 21-15 score on the board.
The second game was somewhat identical as Filart was trailing behind at 8-11 until the 60-second interval. Returning back from the break, Rabie put more pressure on the opponent by hitting powerful strokes and down the line smashes coupled with tumbling
net strokes that earned him a clear advantage on the opponent. He finished the second set with a commanding margin of 21-16, in just 13 minutes.
