Gerard Houllier ends John Carew row
Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier has put an end to the row concerning striker John Carew.
The pair clashed after the weekend match against Fulham but Houllier has come out and rubbished rumours that Carew has played his last game for the club. He has placed pressure on the striker to react
positively and perform.
"We had a meeting with the whole team to clarify things.
There was a discrepancy between my words which were full of praise for John Carew, and what was put up in the Norwegian press," said the Villa boss.
This will come as welcome good news to Aston Villa fans because the club has a lot of work to do in order to move up the Premier League table. Carew is needed to play a
big role in the attack of the side and will be an important player when he returns from a calf injury.

Time to move on
It's time to leave this whole issue behind and move on because Aston Villa has a job to do. The club currently sits in 14th place in the table and should be pushing for
the top 10.
The club has not been blessed on the injury front so far this season. Important players like striker Emile Heskey and captain Stiliyan Petrov are currently in the treatment
room, which places greater pressure on others to take responsibility.
Carew is a big character and a powerful striker. Houllier has done well to address this issue so quickly because Carew is key to the way the team plays over the rest of
the season.
"John realised that [Houllier's comments had been misinterpreted], and that had to be clarified in front of everybody.
The matter is over. I don't want to talk about it anymore.
He is a player for Aston Villa," added Houllier.
Betting advice
Carew's current injury means an end to any decent bet for him being top scorer at the club this season. However, the big striker is capable of bagging a goal or two against
any team when he is fully fit.
