Gerard Sibayan and Jc Clarito to clash in quarter-final of the 2011 Goal Pilipinas - Bingo Bonanza
Philippine’s Gerard Sibayan and Jc Clarito will meet in the Boy’s Singles quarter-final, as they won their pre-quarter-final matches in the 2011 Goal Pilipinas - Bingo Bonanza event, held in Philippines, on June 2.
Gerard put up a great show of top class badminton against Elijah Abdel Boac and won a three-set fight of 40 minutes, whereas, Clarito showed no mercy in beating Paolo Baluyot in straight games, which took only 25 minutes.
The match between Gerard and Clarito grabbed the attention of the crowd as it was the best encounter of the day. The opening set progressed closely as both shuttlers employed their techniques quite effectively.
Gerard increased his speed in the star of the second-half of the set, but failed to manage a good lead against a spirited Elijah. Gerard made some mistakes at the ending stage of the opening set and lost it by a narrow margin of 19-21, in 15 minutes.
In the second-set, Gerard kept the pace extremely high from the starting points of the game. He started to play at his full potential to build pressure on his opponent and was successful in winning the game in just 14 minutes by a difference of 21-17.
The final game was not that hard for Gerard, as he dominated the set without facing much resistance from Elijah, who lost his control over the rallies. Gerard ended the game by a good margin of 21-14, in just 11 minutes. The 40-minute match finished with
a 19-21, 21-17 and 21-14 difference.
In another Boy’s Singles contest, Clarito proved his supremacy over Paolo without facing any trouble in straight-sets. In the first game, Clarito played with precision and earned points by moving his opponent in all corners of the court. He won the set in
just 13 minutes with a 21-14 score on the board.
Paolo tried to stop the aggressive play of Clarito, who was playing an attacking game. Clarito remained focused in the match and clinched the second-set with a remarkable margin of 21-12, in only 12 minutes. The concluding result of the 25-minute match was
21-14 and 21-12.
