My daughter has gone through all the 1st foods and we are going to start her on the 2nd foods. My question is do I have to give her each food for 3-5 days too? Like if its the mixed vegetables, I already know she's not allergic to carrots and peas. What about the new foods like chicken noodle soup? I just dont like having to keep giving her the same thing over and over for days.

  1. I never really followed the rules and my kids are fine. Actually my son's favorite food is broccoli. If you are concerned, than wait only on the foods that are new to her.

  2. If she's already had all the ingredients in the jar, it's not a new food.  If any single ingredient is new, treat it as a new food.

Having said that, since your baby is presumably somewhat over 6 months, her risk of allergy is lower.  If she hasn't had any reactions up until now, the odds of problems are lower, so you can relax a little. (She'll be on table foods soon, and it's pretty hard to do the 'one new food at a time' business with a pan of lasagna.)

  3. if shes ate then before then your ok, if its something new like chicken and veggies then yes try it for 3 days..

  4. I would be cautious when you introduce a new food (i.e. berries, apricots, meat, etc.)  My 7 month old did not like the meat mixtures at first because of the different texture.  After I knew he was not allergic to the meats, I would mix them with vegetables he liked.  Another thing, Hawaiian Delight is really good.

  5. You only have to do a waiting period on new foods. If it is a mix of things she has already had it is perfectly fine to give her.

  6. Yes, you should always use the waiting day period for new foods. mixed veggies and garden veggies contain new veggies your baby hasnt had yet. make sure when introducing a mix veggie/fruit that you read the ingredients. if your baby hasnt had one of the ingredients on the container, then you need to do the 3-5 day waiting period. but say your baby has had applesauce/bananas and pears... in stage two foods, there is a combination of all three... which you wouldnt have to do the wait period for cause your baby has had all three with no reaction...

hope that made sense lol :-) good luck, stage two foods have alot of good stuff... def. new ones to try. just remember, anything new, requires the 3-5 day rule
