  1. one gerbil will not use wheel that much it better to move it more in to the cage that will stop them banking it. give them cardboard like an egg box that will keep them busy!

  2. I am having a hard time picturing your cage set up but if the wheel or part of it's frame is banging against the glass, I would suggest taping some cardboard or soft material to the glass where the wheel hits it to absorb the impact and dampen the sound. Be sure that anything you use is non-toxic in case they chew on it.

  3. I would get rid of it, move the cage so you can't hear it or get a new wheel.

  4. Dont let them chew on a wheel. Give them a square or rectanguulare cardboard tissue box (anybox will do) that way they have some were to hide and play in and also something to chew on =]

I think its better than a wheel since NONE of my gerbils EVER used the wheel to play on

  5. You can look online for ways to hang the wheel upside down from the top of the cage. This way, they can still run in it, but don't have access to the bottom to chew.

Try adding paper towel or toilet paper tubes, and go to the pet store to pick up something called "Crispy Chews". They are made of dried gourd insides and all of my boys have loved them. They come in a pack of three, and are great for chewing.

Also a possibility to add are wood chews made from fruit trees, like applewood. They taste good, so they will be more excited to chew them than the wheel.

Ecotrition makes neat things out of honey and alfalfa that are 100% edible and shapes them into logs, or huts, bridges, food bowls, etc. They are called "SnakShacks". I always keep one of the logs in the tank with my boys, since they can gnaw it, snack on it , or climb in and on it.

Hope at least some of that helped.

Feel free to email me with any other questions. :]
