Question:

Gerbil acting weird!!!!!?

MY gerbil is stomping rapidly on the ground. Can someone answer why they are doing that? They are very young. About 6 months old. HELP!!!!!

  1. Maybe they're conjuring a rainstorm.


  2. What you're describing sounds like what is referred to as 'thumping'.

    Gerbils do this in two situations:

    1. They're scared. Its how they alert other Gerbils nearby to a percieved threat.

    or

    2. Your Gerbil wants to mate/is sexually aroused. This is almost exclusive to males of the species from my understanding.

  3. it could be that there trying to tell you something maybe they want there favorite food put them some where in a fenced area or so and put all the stuff they use in it and what they feed on too then let them walk to what they want

  4. my gerbil used to do that but it was only cuz it got scared

  5. They are about to evolve.  You should get behind something.

  6. When they do that it's called thumping. they do it when very excited of when they feel threatened or scared. If one is ever on all fours stomping there feet they r showing dominance to the other gerbils.
