Gerbil or hamster????

Witch is a better pet for a beginer with small rodents??

a SYRIAN hamster :) they are really really playful and love being handled and stroked. i have one and she never bites anyone. they're really gentle and realllly cute !

For a beginner or a younger child, I would recommend a syrian hamster. Syrian hamsters (also known as teddy bears, black bears, honey bears, goldens, dalmations, etc.) are the larger hamsters. Since they're larger, they're easier to handle. They're not as fast. They're also, generally, easy to tame and are friendly.

I own gerbils, but I find that they're a bit quick for beginners or young children who are not used to handling rodents. They can be great pets, though. I guess it really depends.

I would recommend you do research on both, and decide which one is better for you, rather than what we consider best for us. Gerbils may be the pet for me, but they may not be for someone else. Good luck!

hamster they are cuter and are so fun to play with esspecialy if yu get them young. they will get used to you and even cuddle on the couch with you when they are older!

Well since you are only a beginner i would get a hamster. I have a miniature hamster. Because with gerbils you would have to clean their cages more because they are bigger and they would smell a lot more when they use the bathroom, because they are so big so you would have to clean the cage out every day or every other day. but with some hamsters you might have to do the same it depends. But if i were you i would get a miniature hamster. You do not have to clean the cage as often because they are so small. And they do not as stink as bad. And they are just so cute at that size.

Well ive heard that Gerbils are easier to get along with

They don't bite as much as hamsters

But hamsters, once you get acquainted with them, can be more playful
