Gergely Gyurta clinches Men’s 400m IM title - Hungarian Long Course Nationals 2011
The last session on day one of the Hungarian Long Course Nationals 2011 saw several impressive performances, as Gergely Gyurta secured the Men’s 400m Individual Medley title to improve to the top spot in the world rankings. The meet took place in Hungary, on June 23, 2011.
Gabor Financsek and Eszter Povazsai also won their respective events, including the Men’s 100m breast-stroke and the Women’s 100m back-stroke, respectively.
Gergely Gyurta took home the Men’s 400m IM title with a winning time of 4 minutes and 21.90 seconds. The silver medal in the 400m IM meet was won by Attila Kiraly with a sterling time of 4 minutes and 31.73 seconds, while Marcell Csutortoki captured the bronze title with a time of 4 minutes and 34.00 seconds.
Gabor Financsek nabbed the Men’s 100m breast-stroke semi-final with a sterling time of 1 minute and 02.54 seconds. Placed second in the following meet was Richard Bodor, with a time of 1 minute and 02.94 seconds.
In another meet, Daniel Gyurta picked up the top seed in the Men’s 100m breast-stroke category with a triumphant time of 1 minute and 02.98 seconds. Eszter Povazsai, on the other hand, nabbed the first spot in the Women's 100m back-stroke semi-final with a winning time of 1 minute and 03.36 seconds.
Earlier in the day, Gergo Kis won the Men’s 800m freestyle title with a time of 7 minutes and 55.30 seconds, while Zsuzsanna Jakabos snared the Women’s 400m IM crown with a time of 4 minutes and 40.79 seconds.
In the Women’s 50m breast-stroke, Anna Sztankovics captured the first spot with a time of 32.42 seconds.
Agnes Mutina secured an emphatic victory over Evelyn Verraszto in the Women's 100 freestyle meet with a time of 55.36 seconds, while Boglarka Kapas snagged the Women's 200m butterfly crown with a time of 2 minutes and 12.47 seconds.
The performance of the day was delivered by Hungarian swimmer, Laszlo Cseh, in the Men’s 100m butterfly, 200m freestyle and 50m back-stroke events. Cseh won the three meets with comfortable ease, as he dominated proceedings on day one of the event.
