Gergo Kis wins Men’s 800m freestyle crown in Debrecen - Hungarian Long Course Nationals 2011
In another exciting event at the Hungarian Long Course Nationals 2011, Gergo Kis nabbed the Men’s 800m freestyle crown at Debrecen, Hungary. Kis edged out Gergely Gyurta and Patrik Rakos in the following meet with a sterling time of 7 minutes and 55.30 seconds.
Owing to this impressive performance in the Men’s 800m freestyle, Gergo Kis has now moved to 8th spot in the international swimming rankings, this year.
While speaking about his performance in the 800m freestyle meet, Kis said that he was very excited and pleased with his effort. He wanted to continue with the same form in the upcoming events of the World Championships in July. Like other athletes in competitive
swimming, Gergo’s ultimate goal is to win his first ever Olympic golden crown at the upcoming Olympic Games in London, 2012.
The Hungarian swimmer won the gold medal in the Men’s 800m freestyle final at the 2008 European Championships (LC) in Eindhoven. In addition, he took home two silver titles in the Men’s 1500m freestyle and 400m medley races at the 2007 and 2008 European
Championships (SC) in Debrecen and Rijeka, respectively.
Meanwhile, Gergely Gyurta took home the silver title in the Men’s 800m freestyle with a winning time of 8 minutes and 04.70 seconds, while Patrik Rakos snared the bronze medal in a time of 8 minutes and 14.31 seconds.
Earlier, Laszlo Cseh won the Men’s 100m butterfly event with a winning time of 51.98 seconds, while Bence Biczo was placed second in 53.61 seconds. Bence Pulai wound up third in a time of 53.86 seconds.
He claimed his second title in the Men’s 200m freestyle race with a time of 1 minute and 50.36 seconds, while Peter Bernek wound up second in 1 minute and 50.79 seconds. Balazs Zambo settled third on the podium after he touched the finishing wall in a time
of 1 minute and 51.02 seconds.
Additionally, he took home his third title of the championship in the Men’s 50m back-stroke category with a sterling time of 26.12 seconds.
