Gerhard Berger says all explanations and excuses from Mercedes make him tired – Formula 1 news
Former Formula 1 driver Gerhard Berger has said that all the explanations and excuses, which Mercedes GP give due to their unsatisfactory performance in the 2011 season so far make him tired.
Berger added that Mercedes must focus on to deliver their best possible show in the ongoing season, as he believes they can do their best on the grid in the upcoming race weekends.
He also mentioned that Mercedes drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg have the ability to perform strongly at the racetrack.
The former driver stated that he believes both of the drivers can still show their best run on the grid in the remainder of the season despite their unsatisfactory results so far.
Berger commented, “All the explanations and excuses from Mercedes make me tired. It is high time that a premium manufacturer provides its drivers with a premium F1 car. The engine is widely regarded as the class of the field. Now it's their turn to deliver
the rest.”
He went on to mention, “He has so much fun in racing and, with all his qualities, why shouldn't he go racing and have fun? He just combines professionalism and fun. After all his success he deserves this. The market has its own rules. As long as somebody
gives him a car, he can do this.”
Apart from that, the Australian added that in his point of view Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton are the best three drivers in Formula 1 at the moment.
Berger discussed them one-by-one and mentioned that Vettel performed perfectly on the grid until now, while Alonso has suffered from minor mistakes during his races in the season so far.
He added about Hamilton that he is the best driver in overtaking. Berger also discussed Hamilton’s on-track incidents in the ongoing season and insisted that he cannot to be blamed for every collision, but it is a fact he has often been responsible for them.
The 13th round of the 2011 F1 season will take place on September 11 at the Monza racetrack in Italy.
Let’s see how the Petronas-sponsored team performs in the 2011 Italian Grand Prix this weekend.
