German Bernhard Langer eager to tee-off for the US Senior PGA Championship this week
The legendary German player Bernhard Langer is back in the business again and will be returning to the US Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid hoping to bag the title on the European Senior Tour.
Already a winner of two major titles in 2010, the Senior Open Championship and US Senior Open Championship, Langer missed the event last year owing to a burgeoning thumb injury that successfully kept him off-course for considerable period of time.
The two-time Masters winner has been practicing for quite a while and is adamant that his game is back to its best from his point of consideration.
He said, “The game's been pretty steady this year, back to where I used to be. The surgery last year knocked me back for several months and I had a lot of pain there for about six to eight months. The results have been pretty good, just the W has been missing.
I’ll keep knocking on the door and it will happen”.
Langer, who pitched a benchmark for the budding players in his homeland in Germany, is considered as one of the most brilliant golfers the country has produced so far.
Winner of two major titles, the Masters in 1985 and again in 1995, Langer was the only German to have lifted a major title in the sport or to surge to the top of the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) before young Martin Kaymer landed both the accolades.
Langer, now 54, has played amazingly well on the European Senior Tour, winning no fewer than three titles so far.
Referring to the course for the event, the Harbour Shores, Benton Harbour, Michigan, Langer believes the course is in pristine condition and will present a delightful experience to the field gathered for the coveted event.
He added, “I think it's a phenomenal golf course from tee to green.  One of the world's best, I would say, but it could be the most severe or worst green complexes I've ever seen in my life”.
Langer has some 84 professional victories on his belt, with 42 of them coming on the European Tour. He was nominated for the World Golf Hall of Fame in the year 2001/2002.
