German Fencing Association announces “COEUR D’ESCRIME
– Fencing with heart and passion” on 100th anniversary
The German Fencing Association is celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. For the celebration, the German Fencing has announced an innovative competition named “COEUR D’ESCRIME –Fencing with heart and passion” for the first time.
The competition will be taking place between clubs and the National Fencing Associations. The date for this competition is not yet decided.
The event will be held in honour of the German Fencing Association. The tournament is characterized of commitment, activity, creativity and development of the fencing sport in the German clubs and Associations.
The key issues to be addressed in COEUR D’ESCRIME event will be club development, chains, targeted engagement, fencing, health and youth work.
A total of eight clubs and national associations will be given the chance to show their worth in this competition. All the participants will compete in both individual and team competitions of Epee, Foil and the Sabre weapon category.
The winner of this event will receive the title of the GRAND COEUR D’ESCRIME. The victors of all types of weapon events will receive certificates, sculptures and cash prizes. The top three position holders will be given prizes on December 17, 2011, at the
100th Anniversary celebration of the German Fencing Association.

Claudia Bokel, International Olympic Committee member and former Epee fencer
Tobias Kuhn, “Bild am Sonntag” publishing director and former Sabre fencer
Nicolas Limbach, Active Spokesman for Deutscher Fechter-Bund (DFB)
Dunja McAllister, Lower Saxony’s “First Lady” and former foil fencer
Gordon Rapp, the President of German Fencing Association.
The applications for this event are to be submitted by September 15, 2011. The date of the competition will be decided when the next delegations will be sent to the clubs and associations.
The Vice President of the DFB, Margit Budde, contributed some words about the grand competition of German Fencing. He said that the size and number of members of a club or association is not based on the assessment of their role, as the creativity, commitment
and passion for fencing, matters the most.
