German Football Association not happy with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Philipp-Lahm-c29929’s comments in his Autobiography
German Football Association is not happy with Philipp Lahm’s statements in his Autobiography and has asked for an explanation from the Bayern Munich defender in a meeting to be held next week. Manager Joachim Low and Team manager
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oliver-c28477 Bierhoff are angry on the player’s judgements on former national team managers and players.
Philipp Lahm has openly criticized former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 tacticians Jurgen Klinsmann and Rudi Voller in his Autobiography “The Subtle Difference”. He claimed that Klinsmann had no tactical sense when he was manager of Die Mannschaft and
that he only stressed on physical fitness and scoring goals.
The comments have not gone too well with the German Football officials and the Association has called for an explanation from the national side skipper before the European Championship 2012 qualifier against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Austria-c2844 to be played
next week.
Joachim Low admitted that he did not like some of the passages in the book and does not like the fact that a player judges all the former coaches who have been very successful with the national team in the past few years.
“There are passages in the book that I do not like. Because a player publicly judges coaches who have been long successful. We will need to talk about that next week,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Team manager Oliver Bierhoff further added that the players have the right to express their opinion but Lahm has perhaps gone too far with his judgements.
However, he played down rumours that the German international would be dropped as the captain of Die Mannschaft. Bierhoff remained confident that the matter would be solved in the next few days and a decision would be reached.
“We want vocal players who sometimes state their opinion but in this case Philipp stepped over the line. But during our evaluation of the whole book we never considered dropping him as captain,” he claimed.
Germany will play their next European Championship 2012 qualifier against Austria on Friday, September 2, at Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen.
