German GP: Hamilton still holds the top slot
The German Grand Prix had been exciting and thrilling especially as there were so many German racers this season, who kept on electrifying their German fans also because the battle of the cars is getting more intense with every passing race. The results of the German Grand Prix are interesting with both the top teams, Red Bull and McLaren being deprived of the top two podium slots.
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton entered the German Grand Prix holding the top position of the Drivers’ Championship and now as he walks out of Germany he still sticks to his position despite the fact that he did not get the results he had expected. The practice and qualifying sessions had not gone well owing to the heavy rainfall and tough track conditions. But the McLaren team has also not been able to be the best in qualifying in past races and have proved that they are much better on race days than in qualifying. In the last race at Silverstone the other McLaren driver, Jenson Button was able to jump ten positions as he started the race from the fourteenth grid position and was able to end it at fourth place.
While talking about his finish at Hockenheim, Hamilton said that it was sad that he ended in sixth place, behind both the Red Bull drivers, their strongest competitors of the season and also behind his teammate, Button who otherwise has been following his tail in the Drivers’ Championship and had ended a place or two behind him in most of the races this season.
Hamilton also commented on the car, MP4-25, saying that it is a good one and both the teammates had been able to catch a lot of points with it but still the fact could not be denied that it was not the best car of the season. He further explained that he had already mentioned several times previously as well that their car stands at third place in the season following the Red Bull and Ferrari. He said that they have been able to set pretty good pace with the car in the past races but their down force needs to be worked upon.
Well, he was satisfied by the fact that he is still able to hold that top slot in the Drivers’ Championship though he wants to increase the lead in the upcoming races or he might lose the peak soon. He added that he was very optimistic as he thought that the team, as well as both the drivers, are working very hard. He expressed that the team is looking for ways to improve the car while at the same time both the drivers are putting in all their efforts to bring the best out of their cars.
Currently, the team stands at the top of the Constructors’ Championship, with three hundred points whereas Team Red Bull has earned two hundred and seventy two points. As per early speculations the title fight was originally between these two teams however, now Ferrari is making a comeback with much aggression. If they keep on getting to the top consistently there might be a tough triangular brawl in the last eight races of the season.
Well, in order to create such a situation the Ferrari would have to push really hard as the competition is tough and the current toppers, both the McLarens as well as the Red Bulls would put up a real hard fight.
