German Open 2013: Juliane Schenk shows exit to Sashina Vignes Waran in Women’s Singles round-of-16
Germany’s elite player Juliane Schenk showed a wonderful performance and reached into Women’s Singles quarter-final after defeating France’s Sashina Vignes Waran in round-of-16 clash at Yonex German Open 2013 in Germany, on Thursday, February 28.
The third seeded Juliane, who has been impressive throughout the tournament, continued her winning run in front of her home fans and remained successful in throwing out her French rival in just 35 minutes in a lopsided way.
German shuttler did not let her fans down as she played with wonderful speed and precision and managed to end up this pre-quarter-final battle in straight games with a superb 20-14 and 21-14 score on the board.
The un-seeded Sashina, on the contrary, tried to play attacking and positive badminton but she failed to create pressure on her higher ranked local rival and eventually crashed out without proving her worth at any stage in the battle.
It was a wonderful fight in the initial points when Juliane showed a wonderful display of her craft in the arena.
Juliane was incredibly comfortable in taking the bird early and she did not encounter any trouble in executing her strokes in right areas.
It was Juliane who showed no respect to her passionate challenger in the starting part and established a superb lead on score board.
After the mid-game interval, Juliane was focused on court and remained successful in maintaining a sound gap.
It was an uninterrupted ride for the impressive Juliane who did not face any considerable opposition from her challenger and won the first set with a superb 21-14 difference on the board.
Juliane did not lose her supremacy at any stage in the first part of second set as she played with control and aggression.
Juliane displayed her tremendous craft in the arena by picking the bird timely from all corners and kept her domination over her opponent.
German lady was calm and composed in the arena in the ending points of second set and bagged the second game with a sound margin of 21-14.
In Women’s Singles quarter-final, the impressive Juliane will be up against Tzu Ying Tai who defeated China’s Li Han in a tough round-of-16 contest.
