German Open GP Gold 2012: Huan Xia and Tang Jinhua grab Women’s Doubles title – Badminton news
China’s upcoming shuttlers Huan Xia and Tang Jinhua delivered a fabulous performance as they grabbed Women’s Doubles title after beating Korea’s Jung Kyung Eun and Kim Ha Na in the final of German Open GP Gold 2012 in Germany, on Sunday, March 4.
The World Number 38 Xia and Jinhua, who were the eighth seeds in Women’s Doubles draw of the tournament, impressed the local crowd with their elevated skills as they toppled the World Number 10 Kyung Eun and Ha Na without any problem.
Xia and Jinhua proved their mettle as they ended the title match in straight games by taking 49 minutes in the court.
In the first game, the Chinese shuttlers started their campaign in an attacking way as they did not spare any chance to earn points and build lead over their Korean rivals.
On the other hand, the Koreans could not live up to expectations in the opening set and remained struggling in the opening half. Until the one-minute break, they were far behind at 5-11.
After the break, the Koreans played well and managed to level the score at 12-12. They continued their impressive run in the game and remained equal to their lower ranked opponents until 21-21.
At this crucial stage, Xia and Jinhua played aggressive badminton and remained positive in the court which helped them to take the ending points.
They remained successful in taking the set with a close 23-21 score on the board.
In the second set, both sides played well in opening points and remained close on the score board until 11-11. No side could manage a comfortable lead in the first half.
The pace of rallies was at the highest level as both sides did not drop their speed and pushed each other in all corners of the court.
After the break, Xia and Jinhua were at 12-13 when they stunned their rivals by playing flawless badminton and scored nine consecutive points and grabbed the second game with a tremendous margin of 21-13.
Xia and Jinhua stamped their supremacy over their Korean opponents in 49 minutes with a 23-21 and 21-13 score on the board.
