German Open GP Gold: Jan O Jorgensen tames Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka in Men’s Singles round-of-16
Denmark’s in-form player Jan O Jorgensen proved his worth as he tamed Indonesia’s spirited opponent Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka in Men’s Singles round-of-16 at the German Open GP Gold 2012 on Thursday, March 1, at Mulheim, Germany.
Jorgensen, who is World Number 13 and sixth seed in Men’s Singles main draw of the tournament, put up wonderful performance as he did not show any mercy to his lower ranked Indonesian opponent and won the match without facing any trouble.
The higher ranked Danish did not face any considerable resistance from his Indonesian rival and won the match in straight games by taking just 33 minutes in the court.
In the first set, both shuttlers started to play fast game in opening rallies. They entertained the crowd with powerful smashes coupled with fast pushes. The tempo of the game was very fast.
Both continued playing top quality badminton and remained close in the first half until the one-minute interval.
However, Jorgensen took over the control in the second half of first game by playing with precision and dominated the pace of rallies in an impressive fashion.
On the other hand, Rumbaka failed to continue his aggressive play as he lost his control over the pace of rallies and remained struggling.
On the other hand, Jorgensen was in complete control as he did not commit any mistake in the concluding half and won the first game with a wonderful 21-14 score on the board.
In the second game, both shuttlers played at the same speed until the score reached at 4-4.
At this stage, Jorgensen started to build lead as he remained positive while his opponent was not that fast.
Rumbaka could not put up strong resistance to his rival in the first half as he failed to place his shots in right areas and remained far behind at 11-6.
After the break, Jorgensen continued his positive and aggressive run in the game and managed to end it with a one-sided margin of 21-12.
This Men’s Singles fight ended in just 33 minutes with a 21-14 and 21-12 score on the board.
At the quarter-final stage, Jorgensen will take on Hong Kong’s Wong Wing Ki who thrashed Chen Jin of China in another pre-quarter-final battle.
